👋 Hi! Tell us about yourself and your training

Hi there, my name’s Day Micheli, also known as Angel Blake in Brazilian Professional Wrestling. I’m 28 years old, I was born in Umuarama (Paraná), grew up in Sorocaba (São Paulo) and currently I’m living in Ribeirão Pires (São Paulo as well) – all of those cities in Brazil.

All my life, I loved everything involving sports, martial arts mainly. I’ve always been a big fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme due to his training. I began to go into a gym in 2015 and the following year, I initiated to practice Wrestling.

In 2018, I started wrestling professionally to improve myself and take it to the next level, I added calithenics. Since 2019, Muay Thay has also been incorporated and this year I changed my eating habits with the help of my coach Igor Sfair.

My boyfriend, who is a professional wrestler as well, is along with me in this path. I began a major physical education in 2013, but unfortunately, I couldn’t finish due to financial problems.

⏱ Describe a typical day of training

My character’s gimmick is a warrior who has a great ability and agility so that is my main focus.

The pandemic caught everyone by surprise and because of that, we have to do everything at home. My coach has been helping his students to make sure everyone’s body stays active. Because we are athletes, when we don’t train, it makes a great difference.

I wake up, eat my breakfast, take my morning supplements and do my home exercises. My biggest focus are in legs and cardio, this is helping a lot in my in-ring performance. My character’s gimmick is a warrior who has a great ability and agility so that is my main focus. In the afternoon, my boyfriend and I do a 30-minute walk and 30-minute of stretching. That’s our daily workout.

Legs, butt and calves exercises are my favorites. I like training upper body as well, but lower body are my favorites. I like running, a little bit of Burpees, fast squad for cardio. Cardio is one of my favorite training.

Sometimes, with company is good but sometimes I need to train just myself.

I carry bottle of water. Without it, I can’t train properly.

👊 How do you keep going and push harder?

If you want to grow, you need to train.

Sometimes it’s really to hard stay motivated every day to go out (or even train at home). Our bodies and head feel tired, but our dreams about growing up and become someone greater are the biggest support. I believe that’s the biggest motivation to keep going on a hard path, without forgetting about our health, that it’s important as well.

As I said, my training is to improve my performance in Pro Wrestling. Without this, we don’t have yield and I believe it’s not just in wrestling, but any sports modality. If you want to grow, you need to train.

🏆 How are you doing today and what does the future look like?

There is a long path to walk and I’ll be ready to face every obstacle.

Because of this quarantine, I needed to change my habits. Training at home isn’t easy but we always need to try. For now, it’s working well, but I miss a lot going to the gym. I was training six times per week, taking a rest on the weekend.

I’ve always dreamed of traveling to other countries, making my name and maybe working in a big company. It’s the reason I work a lot and think about my career. I’m at an age not good for this sport, but I’m a dreamer and I’ll keep dreaming about everything. There is a long path to walk and I’ll be ready to face every obstacle.

Biggest challenge is to change all my routine. I didn’t believe I could handle it. For example, I love fast food and I thought I couldn’t stay away of a hamburger for a long time and… I did it. It’s hard in the beginning, but it’s a relief when you get.

🤕 How do you recover, rest and handle injuries?

I had a knee injury that required eight months of recovering and it wasn’t a good time. An injury in an athlete’s life is hard because you find yourself having bad thoughts; sometimes, you don’t even sleep thinking about it. But at the same time, it’s an excellent moment to mainly improve yourself.

The best thing you do is breathe deeply, put negative thoughts away, recover and come back strong, letting everyone who supported you proud.

I try to sleep every night eight hours but sometimes I can’t because mostly I’m studying and I end up sleeping six or seven hours.

🍎 How is your diet and what supplements do you use?

My coach is the one who is taking care of my diet, but since I began to do calisthenics, Pro Wrestling and Muay Thay, I realized my eating has changed a lot. I used to eat badly; I had more fat than muscles, even though I’m thin.

When I began to improve my eating habits, my coach turns between carbohydrates and protein each month, in a specific schedule and after, I can eat anything out of my diet.

Currently, my supplements are vitamin C supplement, a diuretic tea, Omega 3 and caffeine, besides a lot of water. Although my biotype doesn’t help, I’ve been focused to gain the weight I need.

As for attending social events, I eat, no problem, I just eat moderately. For cravings, nowadays, I’m handling better than I thought. In the beginning, it was a little difficult, but I can.

👍 What has inspired and motivated you?

Since 2013, I’ve been following several athletes that are part of wrestling and nowadays. This makes me feel so inspired and makes me going.

My wrestling Team, called CFW (Crazy Freestyle Wrestling) is another inspiration because each one has their own life outside of wrestling, but in the ring, they are dedicated to giving people the fun they are looking for. A lot of my friends has a hard life because of a job or even personal problems, but they’re there, strong.

My boyfriend is my biggest inspiration because he’s always by my side, supporting me, giving me advice. At this moment, he’s recovering of an injury but he doesn’t stop supporting me and that’s great.

When working out, I love listening to Rock n’ Roll. I’ve been listening all rock styles since 15 years old.

✏️ Advice for other people who want to improve themselves?

Well, everything has a beginning and this makes sense when you choose a day to start it. In the fitness world, there are a lot of modalities and the first thing to do is choose one and be happy.

In this fitness world, not only do you train but you also earn a lot of knowledge about your body and what is better for it. When you notice it, you can’t leave this lifestyle anymore.

🤝 Are you taking on clients right now?

I’m not a coach yet but what I can do is share advice with anyone who wants to train and share the work from my trainers. Someday, I’ll return to college and I’ll be a personal trainer, but for now, I just can help with bits advice.
