👋 Hi! Tell us about yourself and your training

Hi! My name is Sandy Lieu and I am 32 years old living in Los Angeles, CA. I am the Chief Sales Officer for @MyoBlox and I manage @mavlashextensions every Wednesdays.

I started my fitness journey professionally and blog in 2013 as a creative outlet for me to express my love for all things fitness.

I’ve competed in five NPC shows, in which two were National shows. My expertise includes sports supplements, health, wellness and beauty. I love teaching, inspiring and motivating others. My goal is to inspire my audience to live a full, beautiful, and happy life.

I began my fitness journey back in 2013. At the time, I didn’t know what I was doing really. All knew was I had a passion for sports supplements because it made me train better to achieve my goals, which was competing at the time. I’ll never forget my first pre-workout by @gaspari called #SuperPumpMax (love you @nutratroy). I walked into @wholesalenutritioncenter Costa Mesa, met @sw00dy, and bought my first a tub 😅. My life changed shortly after that. I began training for @musclecontest with @teamzerogravity and coach @bigdjames. ⁣

I’ll never forget the day @fitgolflife and @pdid approached me to be their first female sponsored athlete. Till this day, I am so grateful & forever humbled for what those two have done for me. Sooooo proud of you guys =-) Shortly after, I was hired by @bd_americanoak to work for @gatsupplements as a demo rep. Brian helped me put my teaching skills to work (I have my Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies... wanted to be an elementary school teacher at one point of my life 😆), which led me to my promotion as the CA Sales Rep, which then led me to @jg1174, got hired as the West Coast Territory Manager & eventually International Territory Manager for @nutrexresearch. ⁣

Exactly one year ago, I took a break from sports supplements. I got the opportunity to design and successfully launched the Smoky Rose Collection for @alphawearfitness. ⁣

I’ve been grinding for 6+ years and still am not where I want to be. I do cardio before I lift weights, never count my reps, eat before I go to bed and am 💯 ok with that because I do what makes me happy, always.⁣

Your fitness journey should be fun & realistic goals that will allow you to KEEP them. Not mentally drain you. Do it for you and only YOU. You’ll never know where it can lead you . ⏱ Describe a typical day of training

I train six times a week for about 1-1.5 hours and typically rest on Sundays. I always listen to my body so if I feel I need an extra rest day, I’ll take it. I like to do upper body/lower body/upper body/lower body, etc.

I train at Equinox and typically prefer to train alone. I find that when I train alone, I push myself harder because I don’t talk. I prefer to train as soon as I wake up, so I drink my Sandy Stack (@myoblox 1 scoop Loco, 1 scoop Skywalk and 1 scoop Rubix) and zone out. ☺

If I am hungry, I will drink a few sips of my Sprout Living (vegan) protein shake and go. I like to finish the rest when I’m done training w/ a banana.

My cardio ranges from 20-30 minutes and I prefer to do it before I lift weights. I love training shoulders and legs.

I use my Apple Watch to track my heart rate/calories burned daily.

👊 How do you keep going and push harder?

Working out keeps me sane. I need it. When I do not train, I get anxiety and my energy is low. It’s the only time I get to focus on me, and only me. That’s why I love it and am obsessed.

I do all sales for MyoBlox so am typically working from 9-5 p.m. M-F.

I wake up @5:30 a.m., leave my house by 6 a.m., commute to Huntington Beach and am in the gym by 7 a.m. I train for an hour straight (until 8 A.M.). Then get ready for the day. ☺ On the weekends, I go as soon as I wake up, as well.

I always try to burn as much calories as I can. So, if I have chores/errands to do, I see it as how many calories can I burn while doing this. Positive thinking always!

🏆 How are you doing today and what does the future look like?

My next goal is to do more aerial fitness and to become more flexible than I already am. I can always use more muscle as well. ☺

🤕 How do you recover, rest and handle injuries?

Slow and controlled. Mind/muscle connection. Breathe. Stretch.

Nothing changes when I travel. I get it done. ☺

I sleep anywhere from six to eight hours a day.

🍎 How is your diet and what supplements do you use?

I have been on a whole food/plant-based diet for the last six months. I occasionally do fish if there aren’t any good vegan options. But most of the time I am 98% plant-based, 2% fish.

I am allergic to wheat and dairy (moreso with wheat) so I found that being on a plant-based diet has helped me tremendously, especially my gut health.

✏️ Advice for other people who want to improve themselves?

We have our entire lives to achieve our fitness goals.

Create achievable goals and give yourself time. There really is no rush.

Take the time to listen to your body and workout for YOU and your heart (we only have 1). You deserve to be healthy.

Know your weaknesses. For example, I know mine are nut butters. I make myself buy single servs instead of a jar because I know I can’t control myself. IF I do buy a jar for whatever reason, I use a tablespoon to measure because it really easy to overeat.

Wearing sandals is the strangest thing I’ve seen in the gym and I see some people not breathing.
